Klosa founder Solomon Koomson has been recognised with the 2026 CSI x CEC Venture Award, presented jointly by Conestoga Students Inc. and the Conestoga Entrepreneurship Collective.
The award recognises ventures built through Conestoga's entrepreneurship programmes. Klosa came through Venture Lab for Tech.
What the award recognises
Klosa is a cross-border support and payments platform. It lets people send money home, or pay directly for the things that money was meant to cover - electricity, school fees, internet, groceries.
That distinction is the product. Sending cash and hoping it reaches the right place is not the same as paying the bill yourself, from wherever you are.
The recognition cites Klosa's progress to date: a working MVP, federal incorporation, and registration with FINTRAC and the Bank of Canada.
Those last two matter more than they sound. Moving other people's money across borders is not something you can do on good intentions. It takes registration, oversight, and the operational discipline that comes with both.
In his words
"I joined the Venture Lab with an idea and a problem I believed was worth solving. The program gave me the structure, coaching, resources, and support to validate the problem, refine the business model, and turn the idea into something tangible."
Koomson brings nearly a decade in banking, payments and financial technology to Klosa - and a problem he understood before he started building for it.
"For me, the award is both recognition of the progress we have made and encouragement to keep building."
Where this goes
Klosa's first corridor serves people supporting family in Ghana. It is not meant to be the only one.
"Our ambition goes beyond one corridor. We want to build Klosa into a platform that helps people, wherever they are in the world, stay closer to the people and things that matter back home."
Thank you to Conestoga Students Inc., the Conestoga Entrepreneurship Collective, and everyone at Venture Lab who helped turn an idea into something people can use.
The work continues.
